concept3d hosted the first of monthly SketchUp and Google Earth classes at the New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Edina, Minnesota June 23-25. The next scheduled classes will be July 28-30. Click here to register for July Class Registration.
Class attendees with backgrounds in architecture, planning, and real estate learned a range of new skills to effectively and efficiently use SketchUp and Google Earth. One of the students commented during the training. “If you try to learn yourself you get stuck a lot, if you don’t know where to look for help you can get frustrated and spend a lot of time looking. Having an instructor to go to for help during and after the class was well worth my time”.

The New Horizons Computer Learning center utilizes what is called a “Middle Monitor” system for training. Rather than have students continuously look up and down from a projected instructor screen, every other student shared a 2nd monitor displaying the instructor screen.

Over the course of three days, a wide range of SketchUp Pro and Google Earth Pro content was covered. A bonus hour of training was included after each class which allowed for some custom topics including photo-texturing tricks for Google Earth models, dynamic component creation, and Google Map integration of kml data.
If you miss out on the June series not to worry, concept3D will be hosting additional Google-Certified and AIA/ASLA accredited SketchUp and Google Earth classes in July.
